On December 19, Venus went retrograde in sensible, stoic, and steadfast Capricorn. Her apparent backward motion prompts up to revisit our experience of love, our social life, what holds value for us, and our relationship to money. Through January 29, whether we consciously seek it out, or look down and mysteriously find our feet pointed in the direction of memory lane, we’ll find ourselves, in memory or direct experience, revisiting the past. Exes will suddenly show up. This time around, Capricorn will revive the ones that are considerably older than us, more mature, more conservative, or more set in their ways. In other words, the grown ups. Is there another chapter in the story? Or will you have an adult reckoning and accept that the youthful love affair you elevated to mythological status is nothing more than a commonplace love story, and embrace the opportunity to bid them a final farewell?
Venus’ retrograde phase is also great for undoing hexes. You know, the ones where you hexed yourself by promising that you would never know a love like that again or never feel so strongly connected to someone. Or, Goddess help you, never love again. If you said those words, you hexed yourself. And, for many people, those self-affirmed vows held true and you haven’t since experienced that glorious, earth-shaking love that makes you feel truly alive. Now is the time to declare to the universe that you’re undoing any and all vows made consciously or unconsciously that stand between you and the love you desire. Affirm that you’re open to the mature, rooted, steadfast love that Venus in Capricorn stands ready to bless you with.
Where you find Venus in mid-late Capricorn in your natal chart is where you can take a deep dive into your desires and more fully understand who and what will satiate your craving for status, security, and yes, love.
