When the sun crosses my ascendant and journeys below the horizon, it’s a very inward time for me. It’s when I’m the most introverted and detached from the external world. As a person with Sagittarius rising, this journey roughly begins in early December and lasts until the sun crosses my IC (enters the 4th house) in late March and begins its ascent. Like clockwork, the journey is repeated at the same time every year. Hence, I’ve not felt much like sending out a newsletter. It’s important to honor your natural rhythm when and where possible. Acting in the flow of the cosmos always feels better than pushing against the tide.
You can chart your own journey and determine your own cycles by studying your natal chart. There’s a rebirth every year when the sun crosses your ascendant. It marks the start of your personal journey around the sun. It’s a time to refresh your personal goals (first house), explore your values and attitude toward abundance (second house), examine how you think, communicate, and relate to your immediate surroundings (third house), and contemplate the influence of your roots, home, and family (fourth house). This dip below the horizon can feel like a journey through the underworld, as you examine what lies beneath the surface of your consciousness. It requires rest and care, as you’re gathering your energy to once again ascend. As the sun enters my third house (communication) in a little over a week, my enthusiasm for sharing my thoughts on astrology, animism, and ancestral healing work will likely increase, so stay tuned! We’ll continue the sun’s journey through quadrants two to four in upcoming posts. In the meantime, pull out your natal chart and an ephemeris and start plotting your own journey. At the time of this newsletter, the sun is at 18 degrees of Aquarius. Look to where you find 18 Aquarius in your natal chart to reveal where you’ll feel the most vitality and focus. The house where it’s located represents an area where you can thrive and fully express your energies at this time of the year. Leave it in the comments if you’d like.
